Personality Study of the Body Defectives Projected on the Human Figure Drawing


Abstract
The aim of present study is to obtain the characteristics human figure drawings of body defectives throgh which some of the characteristies of body images and personality patterns of those with loss or disability of body parts are expected to be delineated.
The study was performed by analysis of human figure drawing test applied to 100 body defects and 100 individuals as control.
The analysis is based on the analysis;, scale by Otomo wich is a modified scale of Machover¢¥s original.
Followings are the results;
1. General characteristic of human figure drawn by body defectives is that of extraordinary large head portion and wide stretched legs.
2. On more than 70% of cases the portion of human figure which correspond to the defective body part is overstressed or neglected.
3. Large proportion of F (Frustration) factor is demonstrated.
4. The problem index is appeared to tend to decline by the increase of chrono logical age.
These results appear to support the assumption of human figure drawing as the projection of individual¢¥s self-body-image.
